I'm very curious, how would you go about making the stitch appliance? I'm really hoping to learn how to do more Special FX makeup (I'm only a sophomore in high school so I'm a beginner in makeup and next year I'll be going to community college for Cosmetology) and I've been trying how to learn how to do a stitch appliance. I can't find anything good on youtube, it doesn't look like this, and this is exactly what I'm looking for. The stitches on youtube that I've found, the cut looks more open and I've had stitches before, it should be relatively closed with a little bit of an opening from where the cut has been made and the skin that's been cut are much paler than the rest of the base skin.
looks like someone had their radial artery harvested for a coronary bypass graft. they do last longer than the leg saphenous vein grafts, as they are arteries and work like arteries and are just tougher than vein grafts. and yes I am a retired Open Heart Nurse and that is where the sutures would sort of be. but not that blatant. blew your minds I'll bet. just ignore me. I'm old.
coming form someone who has no background knowledge... it looks real, however im wondering if even fake would a gash/slash/mutilation like this have more stitches? I would think that in real life it would... but i'm not sure., and if it did would you try to portray this? again these are just newbie questions because I want to understand...
It may not be perfect, but it looks darn good! I like this foamed gelatin because it has that puffy dimensional look that just adds another layer of cringe. Or something. I can't articulate what I'm thinking. XD
xD The puffiness was actually a mistake. It's where it pooled in the mold, so I just worked with it. No, what's really nice about foamed gelatin is how flexible it is. It reacts very similar to human flesh, as you can see here- [link]
"I know it's not perfect. I know there's a couple edges showing." Come again?! I thought this was real and somebody got himself cut on a chainsaw or something o_O and then I saw the description and thought "not perfect!? which part??" XD
